Here's a first story!

First day of school for my kids. My oldest starts 8th grade. He has brown hair brown eyes, pretty handsome boy I would say. On his first day, here's his first experience and impression. He is sitting at a lunch table not knowing anyone of course when a girl approach him and says one of the funniest thing I've ever heard. " Hi,  then with big motion of her as if talking to a mentally disabled person continues: " what pause, is pause , your pause, name? He responds quite naturally huh Ranmsey.. She keeps going "where pause, are pause, you pause, from? My son looks at her in bewilderment thinking what is wrong with her. He then so naturally replies: huh Connecticut. Thinking in his head why the slow motion talking. That lovely girl goes on the spectacle by turning around and shouting to the whole intrigued crowd: hey everybody he speaks English!!! My son just shook his head like duh I speak English just like you. Moral of the story is this: you have to land somewhere on Long Island to witness such mentality. Being judged only because you are not Caucasian. Automatically being categorized as a foreigner who doesn't speak English! I mean really but hey these folks haven't seen much of a diversity around here. Now almost 3 years later they still laugh about it. I also have to say that my son has quite very well adjusted to his new school.. He, in fact became somehow the popular kid! Go figure, must be his good looks!
